Bank Fraud
Scams that deceive you into sending funds to a criminal, or take control of your account outright.
Bank Fraud
Bank fraud covers a wide range of schemes that exploit the trust placed in banking systems and payment channels. In many cases, victims are not hacked at all. They are deliberately misled into authorising a transfer themselves, often after a call, text, or email that appears to come from a genuine bank official warning of a security threat. In other cases, criminals gain direct access to an account through stolen credentials, malware, or a compromised device, then move funds before the account holder notices.
Fraudsters posing as bank security teams often create a sense of urgency, telling victims their savings are at risk and instructing them to move money into a so called safe account. Others exploit genuine transactions, such as a property purchase or an outstanding invoice, by intercepting communications and substituting their own payment details. Warning signs include unexpected contact from someone claiming to represent your bank, pressure to act immediately, requests to disregard a mismatch between a payee's name and account details, and instructions to keep the transfer confidential.
Investigation, tracing, and full legal representation
Our private investigations team begins by reconstructing exactly how the fraud occurred, tracing the movement of funds across accounts, payment processors, and, where relevant, international borders. This evidence forms the foundation of a formal case against the institutions and individuals involved, supporting both a claim for reimbursement and, where appropriate, a criminal referral.
Where funds have moved overseas or the individuals behind the fraud operate across multiple jurisdictions, we work alongside Interpol and local law enforcement agencies to support the identification and pursuit of those responsible. Our lawyers then file the case, manage every stage of the claim or litigation, and represent you through to resolution, whether that means recovering funds directly from the fraudster, holding a bank accountable for its failures, or securing a judgment through the courts.
